USFL stars squaring off in championship game ‘thankful’ for chance to play in league

USFL Stars Victor Bolton Jr. and Maurice Alexander Jr. will play for the championship on Sunday.

Bolton’s Birmingham Stallions will take on Alexander’s Philadelphia Stars at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio to close out the inaugural season of the rebooted league.

The Stallions selected Bolton in the 13th round of the draft, and he became an All-USFL selection as a wide receiver and a special teams player.

Alexander was drafted by the Stars a few years after playing his final college game. Alexander is a quarterback and Wide receiver at Florida International, There he was a backup quarterback to Alex McGough for the Stallions.

Both players told Fox News Digital that they are thankful for their experience in the league.

“One thing I want to say is the quality of football is great. We’ve got guys who are very hungry to get to the next level and you can see that in our game,” Bolton said. “Guys play really hard. The USFL did a good job of giving us an opportunity to showcase what we have.”

Alexander said the USFL has helped him overcome some of the struggles of trying to make it as a football player over the past two years.

“The USFL gave me an opportunity and I’m grateful for that because, before my senior year of college in 2019, I got injured. Then, in 2020, Covid struck. So, it was hard for me and I come back with gratitude and passion to show that my hard work is being used and it’s paying off now,” Alexander said.

“Having been out of the game for two and a half years, coming right into it, contributing the way I am now, it shows that when I’m not playing, I’m working, I’m focused, I’m confident. The man on the floor, when the opportunity comes, I’m here to execute and follow through.” .”

Bolton and Alexander both made key plays to help their teams reach the title game.
