Eight people were hospitalized with injuries. Six children and two adults suffered minor injuries, officials said. Five people were declared dead at the scene.
At least four people, including a child and a pregnant woman, were killed when up to seven cars caught fire at a Windsor Hills junction. Alex Rozier reports for NBC4 News Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 3 p.m.
Two of the three burned cars were parked under a gas station sign. Another appeared to roll onto its roof near the entrance to a gas station in the community about 10 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.
Video from a witness showed black smoke billowing from one of the cars.
Another witness said one of the drivers appeared to be making a left turn before the crash.
“Those two exploded right there and there was fire everywhere,” the witness said.
Debris was strewn across the intersection where several ambulances were parked.
