Match Report – East Yorkshire Carnegie 1 – 2 Ollerton Town

Match Report

East Yorkshire Carnegie where knocked out of the NCEL Cup in the first round with a 2-1 defeat to Ollerton Town at Dunswell Park. The Hull-based team made a dream start when striker James Webb lobbed the keeper from outside the area with under a minute on the clock.

They were looking comfortable until Ollerton were awarded a penalty on 22 mins after a foul inside the box. Gavin King equalized, sending young Hull City loanee goalkeeper Harrison Foulkes the wrong way.

Then in the 37th minute Ollerton broke into the penalty area and avoided several defensive challenges before the ball broke to the classy Gavin King once again, who made no mistake from 8 yards, by wrong footing the keeper and the ball looped into an empty net.

With two minutes left James Webb fired a bullet header on target, only for the away keeper to pull off a worldy save at full stretch in the top corner. At full time the home side could have no complaints with the 2-1 defeat. Star striker Gavin King was the main difference, with the away team having the slight edge in terms of determination and ball retention.
