Football Roundup

We want to cover as much local football as possible. Unfortunately we can’t make it to every game of every team in the area. Until a time where we can we will be doing our best to share the results and fixtures of all the teams in the area. So with that said, let’s get to the important bit!

Bridlington Town AFC

Bridlington Town AFC

Bridlington travelled away to Bottesford yesterday. They dominated large patches of both halves, and looked like they were bringing home all three points. A goal from Joel Sutton put the Seasiders ahead in the first half, but Bottesford levelled 7 minutes later. Some questionable refereeing just before the end of the first half denied Bridlington a penalty.

The second half brought more pressure from the Seasiders, however against the run of play Bottesford went ahead. The referee continued to dominate the attention away from an excellent game of football by sending off Andy Norfolk for disagreeing with a decision.

The game finished 2-1 to Bottesford. Bridlington next face Worksop Town away on the 7th in the League Cup.

Hall Road make two trips to Liversedge in the space of a week next, in the League Cup and the League. (6th and 10th)

North Ferriby United

North Ferriby faced Leamington this weekend. After taking the early lead through an excellent Brett Agnew goal, Ferriby dominated large spells of the game. Unfortunately a weak goal on the 11th minute stopped a refreshed-looking United. United continued to dominate the game, and were given the golden opportunity on the 43rd minute. Leamington’s Edwards was sent off just before half time.

Leamington showed great resolve in the second half, and the luck never really fell to Ferriby. The game finished 1-1 and gave Ferriby a valuable point.

Hornsea Town & Hedon Rangers

Hornsea Town made the short trip to Hedon yesterday in the Humber Premier League. Hedon came out close winners against league strugglers Hornsea.

The match finished 3-2 to Hedon,

With morale at an all-time low, fans went into yesterday’s game with no expectations. Jarrod Bowen’s strike earned Hull the lead against Preston. Cunningham levelled for Preston, but the visiting fans hopes were raised. However it was not meant to be, with some questionable refereeing decisions giving Preston a penalty.

The game finished 2-1 to Preston. Hull left the game with no points and with relegation to League 1 at the forefront of their minds.
