After a 2-0 thumping by league-leaders AFC Mansfield on Saturday, Bridlington Town host Barton Town.
Though it’s an understandable result against Mansfield, with them 14 points ahead of 2nd place Handsworth, it’s still a bitter pill to swallow. Just a week after the football masterclass against Hall Road Rangers, defeat was not in the minds of the players.
Still, after hammering Hall Road last week, Brid welcome a team lead by the manager that won them runaway promotion last season.
The Swans come into this game also on the back of an AFC Mansfield defeat, with the same scoreline. Although this was a cup game, their result against the same time at the start of this month was similar.
Barton Town FC are a club with a long history. Formed in 1995 from a merger between Barton Town and Barton Old Boys, the club has experience on its side. The team are currently sitting at 19th in the league, 15 points behind Town.
Their recent form has been mixed, with only one win in January so far. Barton are not a team that like to draw. With only 1 draw in the league this season, back in August, they’re an all or nothing team.
A leaky defence has resulted in Barton Town having a -30 goal difference this season, which Town will be looking to exploit this weekend.
The last meeting between these teams was in August. Bridlington came away with all three points from the game after winning 3-1.
Brett Agnew opened the scoring, with a goal from Fraser Papprill and brace from Jack Walters. Barton took away a consolation goal on the 74th minute by Thomas Waudby.
Barton Town FC will be hosted by Bridlington Town at the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium this Saturday.
Entry will be its usual £6 adults and £3 concessions.
Make sure to turn up early and get a few drinks in at the Seasiders Bar, open from 2pm.
