Hull Marathon have announced their 2018 Charity Partners. This year 5 charities will partner up with the Hull Marathon, and help spread the word about what they do, and how they help the community.
The five charities partnered with the event are (please click on links to learn more about the charity):
- Hudgell Trust & The Hull Homeless Community Project
- Dove House Hospice
- Nurture A Child
- Special Stars
- Disability Sports Humber
The five charities will have stands at the race village, which will welcome runners. Charities involved will also have cheering points along the route to help encourage runners on. They will also receive coverage in the run-up to the race.
If you’d like to run on behalf of one of the charity partners you should contact them directly. There will be a number of race types in the Hull Marathon.
About The Charities
Supporting The Hull Homeless Community Project: who work with people sleeping rough on the streets,as well as extending their support to all those affected or at risk of homelessness. The project works to ensure those at risk of homelessness are supported before they hit crisis point, and say that breaking stereotypes is key to this.
Jo Hudgell, Chair of the Hudgell Trust said:

Andrew Smith, from the Homeless Community Project, added:
Homelessness can be very physically demanding. [We’re] really excited to be involved in a sporting event that brings the community together.
Dove House Hospice
Being the only hospice of its kind in the region this hospice cares for thousands of adults each year. The hospice offers support and care for people with terminal illnesses. Whether they suffer from Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, or any other incurable disease they are there to help.
Dan from Dove House Hospice said:
We see The Hull Marathon as one of the most prestigious events in the race calendar. [It is] absolutely fantastic to be partnered
Nurture A Child
Nurture A Child are dedicated to promoting and assisting the development of opportunities for children and young people. They work with local authorities, fellow charities, and sporting organisations to help identify opportunities.
Callum Saunders of Nurture A Child said:
By getting involved with The Hull Marathon 2018, we can inspire even more young people to get involved in local education, business and sporting opportunities.
He also added that the race is:
…the perfect opportunity to spread awareness of the charity and improve the confidence and development of young adults in the Hull and surrounding areas.
Special Stars are a local charity that helps support people with disabilities, and their families. They provide a diverse range of activities aimed at reducing the negative stigma surrounding their disability. Events and activities planned by Special Stars are designed to be as inclusive as possible. This allows a wide range of people to join in and interact with other people.
They believe that nobody should miss out on an active and full life, regardless of any disabilities.

Special Stars Foundation are delighted to be chosen as one of the Hull Marathon Charity Partners this year. The funds raised will be used to make a massive difference to the quality of life of disabled people and their families living in Hull and East Yorkshire.
Disability Sports Humber
Disability Sports Humber is the largest disability sport charity in the region. They aim to change people’s lives through sport.
Supporting over 500 disabled people in the area to enjoy the sports they love can be quite expensive; the average sports chair costing over £3,000.

We are a small charity, solely funded by public donations. We support hundreds of local people in accessing sporting facilities and its great to see the local sport community get behind the charity.
