East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that for the 8th year in a row parking will be free over Christmas.
For the weekends of 2nd-3rd, 9th-10th, 16th-17th, and 23rd-24th of December parking will be free on all Council-run car parks. You can park free between the hours of 8am on Saturday morning to 8am on Monday.
This includes all on-road and off-road parking areas.
Rules Still Apply
The parking fee will be waived, however the rules still apply. If a car park has a limit of 2 hours, for example, you may only stay for 2 hours. Disabled Bays and Controlled Parking Zones will still have the same rules applied to them.
Also it is worth making sure you still get a ticket from the machine.
What the Council Says
Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, the leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:
Thanks to the council’s strong financial management, free parking in the run up to Christmas will again be offered in the East Riding.
This scheme provides real and tangible benefits for the local economy by providing a timely boost at what is an important time of the year for traders. It also helps our residents and visitors to the area who are preparing for the festive season.
The decision to continue to offer this yearly tradition was made by the council’s Cabinet.
