Cash Machine Stolen

In the early hours of this morning a cash machine was stolen in Pocklington.

Police were called shortly after 3:30am with reports of a cash machine being stolen from the HSBC branch.

A JCB teleporter was used to break through the walls of the bank. The cash machine was then loaded onto the back of a green and white For Transit flatbed van.

Both the van and the damaged cash machine were found near a roundabout just outside of Pocklington. The thieves abandoned the JCB and fled the scene.

Two white estate cars, one thought to be an Audi, fled the abandoned cash machine and collided with attending officers.

Due to the quick response by Humberside Police the thieves left penniless from the crime.

Superintendent Ed Cook, Operational Commander, said

Officers attended extremely rapidly to this in line with an existing response plan to such incidents.

A police car was rammed during the getaway but no officers were injured. The offenders didn’t get away with any cash.

Humberside Police are mounting a joint operation with neighbouring police forces in relation to this incident.
